In Christ's church, the primary responsibility of instruction in biblical doctrine was given by our Lord to the elders (I Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:9). The elders in turn instruct both men and women through the public preaching and teaching of the Word. In the family, our Lord has established husbands as the primary agents of biblical instruction for their wives and children (I Cor. 14:35; Eph. 5:25-26). The Bible very clearly rejects both egalitarianism and the delegation of these high spiritual duties to others, but it also recognizes the virtues and loveliness of educated women, and in particular the wisdom cultivated by older, godly women in the Church instructing the younger women in how to love their husbands, their children, and to manage the important affairs of the home (Titus 2:3-5). Towards that end, the ladies of our congregation (and others) meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM for mutual fellowship and encouragement.
