Dave grew up in the Knoxville area, having graduated from Webb School in 1986 and the University of Tennessee ('91) with BAs in philosophy and English literature. Shortly thereafter Dave attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and graduated with an MDiv in May of 1995. He then served as a short term missionary lecturing in New Testament and philosophy at the Bible Institute of South Africa located in Cape Town's southern suburbs. While living in South Africa, Dave also met his wife Helen, the best friend of one of his former students. After completing a pastoral internship with Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Kingsport, TN Dave and his family moved to Knoxville where he became the founding pastor of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in 2002. Dave and Helen have been blessed with 8 years of marriage and three faithful children: Sarah, Emma and Molly. When not wearing his pastoral hat, Dave is a distance runner, avid model railroader and amateur machinist. You may view some of his model trains here.

The Deaconate

Deacons: Mark Rivera, Charles Clapp & Randy Sadler

Deacons do the work of service in the church, oftentimes with respect to charity and the fiscal concerns of the church but perhaps just as frequently serving up hospitality. More to come here about the work of the deaconate.
